I've been trying it out. (Actually, it's been a long time since i used any other client. I am hooked on Windlight, what can I say?) Supposedly it brings voice to Linux, though I don't have a microphone, and I have yet to hear anyone talking.
What I can say is that some things are insanely slow. Asking for a map freezes you for an outrageous interval, as does teleporting. I hope something is done about that.

There's a new version of the Windlight client out now too, also with voice enabled. Personally, I can hear other people speaking just fine, but my microphone is still out of whack, even though it works fine in other applications. I have not experienced the slowness and freezing you've mentioned here, but I have noticed that my mini-map and my camera control seem to drift all over the place.
